Gaylord runner- Just two more days until race day . 25 years ago I used to run 5 miles every morning . It was rare I would miss a day . Often my sister Sandy who lived next door to us would run with me and we talked about entering our first race together at the Highland Festival Run. Once in a while her son Greg would run with us too.
Sandy went jogging alone one evening and never returned.
She was killed .
I never ran again for 25 years.
This first race of my life will be very exciting but also very emotional.
I will be running with my daughter Nicole , my wife Deb and Nicole’s husband Bill.
I never dreamed I would ever run again let alone run with Deb, Nicole and Bill.
That was a defining moment in my life 25 years ago and I even ended up quitting my job and we moved away.
I always hoped something good would come out of something so bad.
After 25 years a few good things happened over the years and this is one of them. Sandy will be in my thoughts as I run this race on Sat.
25 years ago I was a workaholic but after that I always put Deb and Nicole first and enjoyed everyday. That was another postive thing that happened from this tragedy.
Have a great Thurs.

CAT 10 ENGINE COVERS- Todays picture shows the right side engine door with the louvers done. You can also see the exhaust stack temporarily in place. I also built the two latching pins to secure the side panel. You can see along the top of the panel I have the hinge in place . This afternoon I will install the left side panel and work on the latches.
DAY 2 - It seems like I have tried so many times to eat better , it’s hard for me to even type day one or day two. But I know that is the only way to lose weight , just one day at a time . Deb and my goal is to get in shape for our Atlantic City vacation this spring. We have even more fun out East when we are eating healthy and weigh less.
So that is plenty of motivation for us to keep going and we are ok with it.
NO MORE SNOWPLOWING - It’s been three days now of no snowplowing , but there is a storm heading our way tonight (:>).
STUFFED CABBAGE - Deb is making us some stuffed cabbage tonight for supper , umm ! I love cooked cabbage and the best thing, it is actually good for me , ha,ha. I walked my 45 minutes this morning and back to eating almonds and drinking fresh squeezed lemon water.
MINI GARDEN TRACTOR - I still been enjoying surfing the net looking at cool garden tractors and saving the pics. I think it goes back to when I was 13 years old and bought my first homeade tractor . I loved that little tractor. Even at age 13, I put rear duel wheels on it and I put rear fenders on it and a front snowplow.
When the 8 hp engine quit on me , I remember borrowing 80 dollars from my stepdad for a used 12 hp engine (:>). I was so excited to have all that extra power, (:>). It had a schoolbus seat on it so it wasn’t just for working ? I also took a few girls for a ride on it and I’m sure they were very impressed !! Although now that I think about it , they never did come back for a second ride, LOL
It was those childhood memories that are still inside of me for garden tractors and to want to tinker with them like I did as a young boy.
Have a great Tues. !!
