Equipment Nut

Equipment Nut

I have driven by this logging equipment place many times heading downstate. I always wanted to stop and check out some of the used equipment they have. I guess anyone who would want to stop and look at something that looked like this piece of equipment , must be a real equipment nut. , ha, ha. I always want to stop and take a picture of things on our little journeys, but often I just keep driving . If I stopped everywhere I saw equipment we would never get to our destinations. This skidder had been sitting here for a long time and after looking it over, I could see why. It was pretty rough looking up close. Gaylord Weather- 20 degrees this morning and a heavy frost . Won’t be long before we can go ice fishing , ha,ha.
Michigan Rubber Tired Dozer Model Progress- Tomorrow I will post the first pics of it. It is looking pretty good. I am pleased with it. LeTourneau Loader- The LeTourneau Loader will be a brand new scale I have never built before, I got 10 new sized tires and rims I am very excited about. I just ordered 20 more of them . I also recently bought 36 more of the industrial tires I have been using on the scrapers and loaders. So when I get the 20 I have on order, I will have a total of 66 new tires to add to my tire collection, ha,ha. That should return me to the 600 tire number in my inventory. I guess you could call me a equipment nut, but you could also call me a (tire nut.)Ha, ha,

LeTourneau Monster Loader

With the Michigan Rubber Tired Dozer almost completed, here is the project I will start to build next Mon. Many of you remember the monster model I built of the LeTourneau L-2350 a couple years ago in 1/12th scale. The one I will build next will be smaller than half that size. It will be a early L-1800 Loader. This picture is one that Darrell sent me from Marquette, Mich. as they were assembling two brand new L-1850’s. Darrell was there for a couple weeks to train new operators. Deb and I hope to go to Longview, Texas someday and see these monsters being built in the assembly plant. It would be very cool to snow plow shopping mall parking lots with one of these, ha,ha. Gaylord weather- Most of the snow has melted from the last two days. It’s cloudy and cold and most of the leaves are on the ground now.

North West Dragline in Danville

North West Dragline in Danville

Last weekend when we were dropping off the models to Mel Price in Danville, Ill. , Mel wanted me to go check out the 90D NW Dragline he recently purchased. He said he would really enjoy a all steel detailed model of it . So I told him I would enjoy building my first dragline. Mel has bought many of my models over the last several years. He said he is going to downsize his collection a little . I do not mind if someone who has purchased a model or several models from me decides to sell them. I just hope they have been a good purchase and they can be sold for a little more for a little profit. Because 99% of the models I build are one of a kind models . So each one would be unique in anyones collection. No-one else will ever have one as I will never build another one that is the same model. Mel said he will be at Dyersville next weekend and he said he will be at the St.Louis Show in Feb. If you are interested in any of my models he might have to sell, be sure to mention it to him at these toy shows. Mel loves talking toys, so be sure to stop him to talk toys.
NATIONAL FARM TOY SHOW FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT- Deb and I have attended the National Farm Toy Show for the last eight years. This would be the third year that I would have nothing to sell. We always enjoyed visiting and laughing with so many people . We will sure miss that , and we have made a lot of memories at Dyersville . Deb and I would always walk downtown and enjoyed the feel of the nice little town. We still considered making the drive in the car and just enjoying the show one day and then head back home. But with the early arrival of winter weather with 9 inches of snow last week and two days of fresh snow this week, we have decided not to make the drive this year to Dyersville. With more snow in the forecast we think we want to just stay home this year. Mel Price sounded like he might bring some models to show at Dyersville and possibly sell along with other one of a kind models I have made. He said he still had to talk to Cathy from Toy Farmer to confirm it. It will seem very strange not going to the National Farm Toy Show this year.
