Happy Holloween

Happy Holloween

Here is a picture I took of Deb and four little Super Heros that Deb babysits for in our house. . She has two Supermans, one Spiderman and a Batgirl. Deb also watches two more little ones, but they were not here for the party today.. Seeing the kids dressed up brings back fun memories of Deb and I going around the neighborhood Trick-or Treating with Nicole for many, many , years. When she got older , she was a little embarrassed to have us go with her. So we understood and told her we would make the neccesary adjustments so she wouldn’t be embarrassed So for a few years we would sit in our car a block or so behind her and that gave her and her girlfriends more freedom. During the High School Years she requested we stay back two blocks and it wasn’t long before she was Trick-or Treating with boys!!. Once she got in college of coarse things changed as then she Trick-or Treated in her Camaro and she told us three blocks behind herand her current boyfriend , but often we would lose her in traffic, ha,ha. Once she got married things got better, her and her husband Bill, now just go to neighborhood parties. They said they have no problem us waiiting in the car only one block away.LOL Have a Happy Holloween Nicole !!!! Wish we could be there, ha,ha. P.S. Nicole, We really do miss going Trick-ot Treating with you. ^_><:_'/}{

LeTourneau, Longview Texas Plant

Here is a picture from one of my many books I have on all different brands of machines. This picture shows this L-1800 LeTourneau Loader getting close to completion on the assembly line. LeTourneau Model Progress- I Have the rear cooling doors mounted and the rear axle is now in place. This morning I built the rear bumper and hitch . I am now building the two rear platforms with railings and steps and the walkways that give access to the engine as the worker is doing in the above picture. This afternoon I will get the top engine sheet metal in place and then I will build the first 3 fire suppressor tanks and mount them as the above picture shows. You can also see the side air filtration system box and tomorrow I should have that built and in place. Gaylord Weather- We still have a inch of snow on the ground , but the sun is shining and the weatherman said to play hooky today because this may be our last nice day this year,LOL. No , Seriously , we get very few sunny days in the Gaylord area during the winter. Last winter we went 9 straight weeks without a single sunny day. I told Deb I was going to play hooky today and go cruisin in the Vette all day, ha, ha. Just kidding. Have a nice sunny Mon.

Deb and I walking on the Tregurtha

Deb and I walking on the Tregurtha

Once in a while I go back and look at the pictures we took on our week ride on the Paul Tregurtha Coal Ship from St.Claire Shores, Michigan to Duluth , Minn. and back. We posted quite a few of the pictures on my webpage. But we still have a couple hundred pictures from the trip we never posted. Here is a cool picture of Deb and I walking our laps around the ship. After most meals we would walk ten laps the full length of the boat . It was chilly in Lake Superior and the wind was nippy, but we had a great time. We still do things with our friend Bruce , who took us on the trip with him. He has not gone on any of the boats since that trip. His cousin is James Barker, James owns InterLakes Steamship Co. and Bruce has rode on the boats once or twice a year for the last 20 years. He said he just got bored of riding on them. We’re sure glad he had one last trip to want to go on, and we’re sure glad he asked us. Actually he had asked us two previous trips but we could not go because of the short notice. Even now looking at the pictures , it’s hard to believe we got to experience such a rare trip. And it was even better we got to stay in the owners quarters and we were treated like royalty. Looks like our next adventure won’t be til spring , now with the winter weather here again we like to stay with a few hours of Gaylord. We got 3 inches of heavy wet snow again Sat. night. The city snowplows were out this morning plowing the roads. I did not go get the tractor as I figure it should melt by tonight. LeTourneau L-1800 Loader Progress- The rear frame is welded together and the flared rear section is welded in place. The rear cooling area doors are mounted on hinges and in place. Mon. I will build the rear axle and get it mounted and work more on the top section of the rear frame. Deb and I did some major Christmas Shopping on Sat. We like to get it 99% done before Thankgiving. We are now 70% done and pretty much broke, LOL. Have a nice Sunday with the ones you love.
